It's been a dull couple of days-

-not only the weather but the travelling too! The weather has become quite cold, and sleeping in the roof tent was not easy. However- there comes a time when you have to rough it- so....
Unfortunately each morning brought with it a very strong dew, which meant we had to put the tent away wet again after drying it out each afternoon. Oh bother!

A long journey over a couple of days has brought us to the Barrossa Valley. You may have heard of it- here they produce almost a quarter of the wines made in Australia- and some of the best too. The valley is about 3 miles wide and about twenty miles long, and almost totally filled with vines.

There are many famous vintners here- including Jacobs Creek and Wolf Blass, and we visited both visitor centres. However not one of them offered a tour, just tastings and the opportunity to purchase very expensive bottles. Incidentally our tasting of the Jacobs Creek Pinot Noir was more than a little sour- we'll give that one a miss.

But this really is a very charming area, many very old buildings- but it is notable that the pubs are the some of the best preserved. As this area was first settled by the Germans- hence the wineries- some of the buildings have a German colonial influence.

The more we travel the more confused we become. Now we don't know what day it is! We turned up at a Rotary meeting tonight thinking it was Tuesday, so we were a day early- so what? Better than being late.

We see many odd things on our travels- there are a lot of these  "Wicked" VW campers on the road in Oz, some naughtier than others......
